Suffern Education Association Grievance 1.2018 — Filed by Stephen Marx | Suffern Central School District Watchdog
Just a few month after the 2018 election, where the Suffern Education Association did not have any of the candidates that they financially supported, win the election, Stephen Marx started launching grievance after grievance at the Suffern Central School District Board. This costed the tax payers heavily, trying to fight off many petty and frivolous grievances.
This grievance dealt with the SEA grieving that their Suffern Central School Teachers were not paid the correct hourly rate for their work outside the collectively bargained work day in June of 2018. The Suffern Central School District teachers are some of the highest paid teachers in the country! They usually work 5 periods out of 8 periods a day. They are off holidays, nights, weekends and summers. They enjoy two breaks throughout the year. Many make $130k a year and work approximately a 180 days!

The SEA claims that they sent numerous emails to the Payroll and the Administration that went unanswered. This seems to be a common theme for the Suffern Central School District.
The Suffern Education Association seeks the following
That the Suffern Central School District pays the SEA members the money owed plus interest.
SCSD Payroll will be issued a guidance memo from the Suffern Central School District Administration detailing how to calculate SEA hourly rate and that the SEA gets CC’d on such memo.
